WAR RvR Trumps WOW PvP January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Has WoW PvP left you wanting better, more, PvP and generally disappointed in what could have been done? If so, then WAR is a MUST-HAVE game. its characters are varied, solo play is viable yet team play is so much more effective. You need not do a single quest to advance your character, the best rewards are earned through RvR (PvP) conflicts. The GFX are NOT goofy-cartoonish as that other game. PVE has 100's even maybe 1000's of quests but whats the point, stay with WOW if the PVE floats your boat. If it's PVP you're looking for, then join the gamers playing Warhammer-Online, you will NOT be disappointed. Think WoW PVP on STEROIDS... that's WAR's RvR!
Warhammer Online January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great game. Lots of RvR, PvP, and PvE content. A great guild will help make this game a great success for you. I personally am having a blast, and look forward to many years playing Warhammer Online.
Here's an Honest Review... January 4, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
War is not a *bad* game. In fact, there are a couple of features that Mythic came up with that we will probably see implemented in other games. The problem with WAR is that the developers made it TOO dependant upon the users of the game. Yep, I said it. We, the players, are the weak link in this game.
Players are too spread out across the tiers to allow you to be able find a group AND find a group to fight. Public Quests?... Awesome idea.. when you can find other people. Capture a keep? Big fun... when you can find other people. One saving grace is being able to cue a scenario from anywhere... *BUT* you might wait 15 minutes for it to pop... (no people in your tier)
Here's the next problem. When you can't find other people, there's NOTHING to do. The quests are boring and turn-key. Crafting is absolutley horrible. HORRIBLE! (They should fire the guy at Mythic that designed that part of the game.) It takes WAAAYYY too much time to create even the most simple potion. The auction house stinks... there is NO economy to speak of. In fact, other than buying your mount or abilities, you barely need gold. There are not dungeons in the normal sense. THere are "lairs", but the reset rate is horrible on them.
In other MMORPGs, at least when you couldn't find a group there was something you could go do: play the economic side in the Auction House, go farm equipment in a dungeon with a lowbie guildie, or go farm raw materials for crafting, or craft something cool. Nope, not in War... if a group isn't available to you, you are stuck with kill quests or a simple gather quest. That's it. And it's almost like the quests were added as a hindsight... like "the B team" was in charge of creating them... not much effort put into them... and it shows.
I guess it comes down to this... If you really like MMORPGs, then you will quickly bore with War. If you like the shoot-em-up types of games, then you might like War. War is a "one trick poney." Now... it's VERY good at that one trick (RVR)... but it's only one trick... and you only get to see the trick when a crowd finally gathers.
I love RVR(PVP)and when you can find it in WAR, it's really fun. (I left WOW because WAR promised better PVP. And it delivers... *sometimes.*) But you'll find that the majority of you time spent in War is wandering around looking for a fight or endlessly cueing up scenarios and then waiting for them to pop.
Good ideas: PVP Lakes Public Quests The Tome Seige engines PVP centric
Horrible ideas/implementations: PVP Centric at the cost of all other aspects of the game Lame quests NO economy no crafting in usuable form
HEY MYTHIC!!! We need something to do when Server Population is low!!! (betcha' they don't listen)
BEWARE OF USED COPIES December 29, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
Sorry, this isn't a review of the game. Be aware that used copies that do not include a key code are simply coasters. EA will not give you a key code, I tried. Yes - I should have known better.

WAR IS NOT EVERYWHERE! December 21, 2008 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
Sure many of the review posts say Warhammer is great etc. But what they don't tell you is most of those people have yet to play the end game. On top of that the people that think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread post their evaluation here in the beginning. They seem to never come back and admit the game isn't fun when they find out the end game is dull and boring. War is mildly fun until you level up into the higher levels (29-40). Then it gets boring real fast. The easiest test to see if Warhammer is for you is to answer these simple questions.
1. Do you like running the same scenario hundreds or thousands of times? 2. Do you like the lack of realm vs realm combat out side of scenarios? 3. Do you like server crashes after spending hours trying to sack an enemies town only to have to start over from square one after the server comes back up? 4. Do you like a lack of interaction with other players in your own realm? 5. Do you like spending hours and hours leveling & learning how to fight with your player only to have EA/Mythic decide to change your player into something almost unplayable in Realm vs. Realm combat. 6. Do you like PvE (player vs. environment) that is dull and akin to whack-a-mole as far as repetitiveness? 7. Do you like the other realm using game hacks to give them god mode? 8. Will you like being drastically out numbered if you happen to choose the wrong realm at the beginning? 9. Do you like animation issues with your player? 10. Do you like screen chop in the rare occasion of large scale rvr situations with the best of computers/internet connection? 11. Do you like non working/bugged abilities since game release months ago that are still unfixed?
If you can answer yes to all the above questions then Warhammer is a good choice for you. If not then I suggest you save your money and spend it elsewhere. Warhammer has many issues that make it not fun to play when you get into the higher levels. I just wish I would have read a post like this before I bought the game. Ultimately it's your choice of course but you'll be wise to heed my evaluation of Warhammer.
