Este libro explica mis experiencias personales con los soldados en miniatura, su uso en el wargame, el rol, como me implique en su modelismo y acabe coleccionandolos. En suma se trata del libro que me hubiera gustado encontrar a mi en los inicios de mi aficion. Existen muchos libros editados en ingles sobre el tema pero no creo que, hasta la fecha, se haya publicado ninguno en castellano de forma que abarcase de manera comprensiva todas las ramificaciones del hobby de los soldados en miniatura.

Vaya por delante que personalmente prefiero los wargames de "hex and counter" y que mi experiencia con el wargame con figuras es limitada, pero tal vez por ello he disfrutado enormemente esta guia y pese a no ser un experto he podido disfrutar de todos los guinos que el autor dispersa a lo largo de sus casi doscientas paginas.
En sus dieciocho capitulos el autor expone todas y cada una de las verdades fundamentales de este hobby; la megalomania, los problemas para encontrar oponentes y el marco adecuado para las partidas, las dificultades de hallar la escala adecuada, los referentes a los que acudir, etc. Tanto para un novato como para un aficionado avanzado, sus consejos sobre lo que hay que hacer (y sobre todo lo que NO hay que hacer) a la hora de iniciar una coleccion jugable de soldados de plomo son impagables ya que pueden ahorrarnos cientos de euros en inversiones innecesarias.
En definitiva, una guia imporescindible para todos los aficionados (sea cual sea su nivel de experiencia) a este hobby.

This is a book about how to start and build a miniatures colection and a wargame pool of resources; but is also a guide to rationally manage your time, your efforts, your money and your emotions to make any hobby something rewarding for all your life.
The author gives all the necessary clues to prevent the most common mistakes we all do when we start wargaming, and colecting soldiers. Not only that... the book is full of different ideas to explore the numerous paths we will otherwise discover through years of dedication.
I had the opportunity to see the authors collection of soldiers. I also had the opportunity also to play with him several battles. And I must say his book reflects the friendly entourage and the excellent time we spended playing together. Although he is no match to my military skills (lol).
Regarding the style and the general overview the author makes about the tough conditions and isolation that a nerdish grown up man must face in front of "the rest of the world", I cannot agree more. His view of "how to handle" this hobby in front of the emptybrained leisure mainstreamers is, by far, the best I ever had the oppotunity to read.
